Today, our participants had the opportunity to take part in the   sustainability workshop, delivered in collaboration with Switch Your Thinking at Lyall Richardson Hall.

The session was both informative and engaging, providing participants with valuable knowledge about recycling, waste management, and environmental responsibility. Throughout the workshop, participants learned how to correctly sort household waste, identify which items can and cannot be recycled, and understand the best ways to dispose of materials that do not belong in standard council bins. From plastic containers and cardboard packaging to everyday household items, the workshop helped simplify recycling and encouraged positive environmental habits.

Beyond the practical information, the workshop also created opportunities for participants to learn together, ask questions, share ideas, and connect with others in a welcoming and inclusive environment. The interactive format made learning enjoyable while helping participants build confidence and develop skills that can be applied in everyday life.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the team at Switch Your Thinking for delivering such an engaging and valuable session, and to all of our participants who attended and contributed to making the workshop a success. Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn made the experience even more meaningful.

At 4lifeskills, we believe that learning happens in many different ways, and experiences like this help participants build independence, confidence, and practical knowledge while remaining connected to their community. We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this fantastic learning opportunity and look forward to more experiences like this in the future.

If you’re ever unsure about how to dispose of an item, you can always check the Recycle Right website. Their handy “Which Bin?” and Materials A–Z tools make it easy to find out whether an item can be recycled, which bin it belongs in, or if it needs to be taken to a special drop-off location. It’s a great way to make sure you’re recycling correctly and helping to reduce waste.
