This Sunday, one of our participants took on an exciting personal challenge, participating in the City to Surf Perth 2026.
After completing her first running event, she returned this year with a clear goal in mind: to walk faster and improve her time. With determination, preparation and plenty of motivation, she achieved exactly what she set out to do, improving her pace and reaching her goal!
Her support worker was by her side from the early hours of the morning, helping her get ready, prepare for the event and stay motivated throughout the experience. Together, they worked towards her goal and celebrated the achievement at the finish line.
The City to Surf Perth is one of Western Australia’s much-loved community running events, bringing thousands of people together to take part in a challenge while enjoying the atmosphere and community spirit. For our participants, events like this can be a fantastic opportunity to be active, connect with the community and challenge themselves in a supportive environment.
At 4lifeskills, we believe fitness is not only about physical activity, it can also be an important part of developing confidence, independence and goal-setting skills. Preparing for an event, practising regularly, setting a personal target and seeing progress over time can help participants recognise what they are capable of achieving.
Most importantly, every achievement is personal. Whether the goal is to walk a little faster, improve a time, complete a longer distance or simply participate for the first time, reaching a goal can be a powerful reminder that progress happens one step at a time.
Congratulations to our participant and her support worker! Your commitment, preparation and teamwork turned a personal goal into an amazing achievement. We are so proud of you both!
