This Monday, our participants kicked off their Father’s Day preparations with a creative and meaningful arts and crafts workshop at Kenwick.
As they do every Monday, the group came together at 10:30 am to spend time creating, learning and connecting with others. This week, the goal was to create something special to take home and give as a Father’s Day gift, a beautiful, personalised mirror!
Our workshop leader, Lorena, prepared a different personalised design for each participant. This gave everyone the opportunity to choose their colours, experiment with painting and express their personality and emotions through their artwork.
Once the designs were finished, we added the mirrors to complete each piece. The result? Every participant went home with a unique, handmade product designed specifically for them, no two mirrors were the same!
More Than Just Arts and Crafts
At 4lifeskills, we know that creative activities can support much more than creativity. Arts and crafts provide opportunities for participants to develop fine motor skills, concentration, decision-making, self-expression and confidence, while also encouraging independence.
Having the freedom to choose colours, make creative decisions and see an idea turn into a finished product can help participants recognise their own abilities and celebrate their achievements. These experiences can also support personal goals by encouraging patience, problem-solving, communication and the confidence to try something new.
Most importantly, our workshops are about having fun, connecting with others and creating something meaningful.
