Lesley Murray has already built an inspiring and successful career as an artist, and we are proud to support her as she takes the next exciting step in her journey, bringing her artwork to a wider audience through the power of the internet.
Working alongside her support worker, Lorena, Lesley has begun developing her own online presence by creating a dedicated website and exploring digital tools that will help shape her growing micro-business. Together, they have researched the benefits of different e-commerce platforms, compared online marketing opportunities, and started designing her very first website to showcase her artwork, tell her story, and promote the community workshops she so passionately delivers.
This project is about much more than building a website. It is about creating new opportunities for independence, expanding Lesley’s reach, and giving more people the chance to experience her remarkable artwork and cultural knowledge.
Lesley Murray is a proud Aboriginal artist from the Anaiwan language group of Uralla, New South Wales. She studied Visual Arts at the University of Newcastle and Edith Cowan University, and her work is deeply inspired by her Aboriginal heritage and enduring connection to Country.
Now based in Western Australia, Lesley has dedicated many years to sharing her passion for art with the community through initiatives such as the Wangaba Roebourne Aboriginal Art Group and by leading Aboriginal art programs in Queens Park and Armadale. As an artist, mother and grandmother, she believes creativity nurtures wellbeing while strengthening connections between individuals, families and communities.
Her achievements have been recognised nationally, receiving the Creative Australia Disability Artist Grant in 2023 and being inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame for Arts in 2025.

“Painting is my way of showing how I feel about Country. Every brushstroke is a memory, a story, and a connection to the land and my people.”
