Thanks to the generosity of PEACH (Personnel Employed at Alcoa Charity Help), 4lifeskills is now offering the people we support an opportunity to learn new skills in regards to Coffee Making, Sales and Marketing and Social Interaction.
This grant has given us a new opportunity to enable the individuals we support to learn a skill set that may lead to employment opportunities for them in the future, and will increase their confidence in general. The application for the grant was made after a number of individual suggested that they would like to learn a new skill and were interested in working in cafes.
Through PEACH we received a grant which covered the cost of the set up including the Coffee Machine, a small Fridge, a supply of Coffee, Takeaway Cups, and all the equipment needed to make a great cup of coffee.
We have a small Café Area set up in our Gosnells Office, where the individuals will be taught the skills of coffee making using a full coffee machine similar to those used in Cafes.
They will be involved in:
Taking of orders
Making the coffee
Delivery of the purchased coffee.
It is hoped that these skills will assist them to build confidence, increase community interaction, and possibly give them the skills to be employed in a Café, if that is something they are interested in.
The PEACH grant also covered the purchase of a Blower Vac to keep our Deck Area clear so people can enjoy their coffees outside of they wish, overlooking what will soon be our very own Community Vegetable Garden.
