At 4lifeskills, our regular Sausage Sizzles at Bunnings Armadale have become much more than a fundraising activity. Over time, they have provided valuable opportunities for participants to develop practical skills, build confidence, and connect with the wider community. They have also helped us establish meaningful relationships with community partners who share our vision of creating opportunities for growth and inclusion.

Through these ongoing events, we had the opportunity to connect with the Bunnings Armadale Activities Organiser and explore ways to further support our participants. Those conversations have now come to life with the creation of a brand-new community garden.

Today, we were delighted to welcome two Bunnings representatives, who not only generously donated the materials needed for the project but also worked alongside our participants and support workers to assemble and plant the garden. The day was filled with teamwork, learning, and community spirit as everyone came together to create a space that will continue to provide fresh produce and meaningful experiences for years to come.

This garden will offer participants the opportunity to develop responsibility, learn about sustainability, and enjoy the satisfaction that comes from nurturing plants and watching them grow. It will also create ongoing opportunities to build social connections and practical life skills in a fun and supportive environment.

We are especially grateful to Bunnings for their generosity and continued commitment to supporting our participants. Their partnership extends beyond this project, with exciting discussions already underway around future opportunities for some participants to undertake work placements with Bunnings and further develop skills that may support pathways towards employment.

We would like to sincerely thank the Bunnings Armadale team for believing in our participants and helping turn an idea into reality. Together, we are growing much more than a garden, we are cultivating confidence, skills, friendships, and opportunities for the future.
