At 4lifeskills, we’re excited to announce a significant expansion in our support services, now including children!
Our mission has always been to provide the highest level of support to individuals living with disabilities, and we believe that early intervention and inclusion are crucial for empowering young minds.
One of the incredible participants we have the privilege of supporting is Ezra, a bright 3-year-old with Cerebral Palsy, a secondary brain condition, and Global Developmental Delay. Ezra is the middle child in a family of three, all of whom have disabilities, including his 4-year-old brother with Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and ADHD, and his 2-year-old sister.

Ezra receives 17 hours of support every fortnight from our team, who assist him with his everyday activities (ADLs) that most 3-year-olds do, like dressing, brushing his teeth, and expressing his needs. Using a play-based approach, we’re helping him develop vital skills such as counting and writing, setting a foundation for future learning.
Ezra also follows a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plan that ensures we are meeting his needs while also using some approved restrictive practices to assist with behaviours. Though Ezra can eat orally, he is primarily supported with peg feeding for nutrition, providing him the necessary sustenance while maintaining his well-being.
But we’re not stopping there. Ezra has a special connection with each of the support staff—he loves them all for their unique qualities. Whether it’s their patience, creativity, or kindness, Ezra has learned to bond and communicate his appreciation in his own way.
In our ongoing efforts to foster inclusion, we are thrilled to be working on creating children’s books that promote awareness and understanding of disabilities from an early age. These resources aim to inspire empathy, teach inclusivity, and break down the barriers that children with disabilities often face. By introducing these important themes to children early, we hope to build a world where differences are celebrated, and inclusion is second nature.
Ezra’s story is just one example of the amazing progress we see every day. With the right support, every child can grow, learn, and achieve their potential, no matter their circumstances. Stay tuned for more updates on our journey toward a more inclusive world for children!
