Game on! Building Connections and Fun in the East Area

In the bustling area of 4lifeskills in Gosnells, the east area is stirring up excitement with a new venture—the creation of a board game collection for their gaming aficionados. The aim? To cultivate an opportunity for board game nights, fostering camaraderie and strategic thinking among participants. To start, Pandemic, Splendor, and Escape Room have become the pioneers of this collection (P.S. We are also accepting donations of board games if you would like to contribute to our collection!).

Enter Andrew, Anthony, and Connor—enthusiasts eager to test the waters by delving into the complexities of the escape room. However, a slight twist unfolded as an hour later, they realized they’d been solving for the wrong information! Undeterred, the east area unveiled their board game night on a Social Friday in December, inviting regulars like Xavier, Bailey, and Thalia, and even welcoming Dayne and Myles, two gaming enthusiast brothers, for an evening of challenging puzzles and teamwork.

For Xavier, Bailey, Thalia, and Andrew, it’s more than just a game night—it’s about building connections over shared interests. As the collection expands, so does the social group, allowing shy or introverted individuals to find comfort and friendship in a smaller, more intimate setting before welcoming new faces.

Beyond the board games, this dynamic group bonds over a shared love for pop culture, movies, and anime. In other months, they gather to chill and watch new releases, creating a space where laughter and shared interests deepen friendships.

But the adventures don’t stop there! In their most recent Social Friday, Andrew, Bailey, Thalia, and Xavier traded boards for bowling at Zone Bowling. The competition was fierce, with Andrew and Connor claiming the lead by the end of the round. Andrew and Xavier, appreciative of the variety of activities, continue to revel in the ever-refreshing experiences.

This story isn’t just about games; it’s a testament to the power of shared interests, strategic thinking, and the vibrant connections flourishing in 4lifeskills‘ East Area. We love how we’ve been able to connect our staff and the people we support based on shared interests, leading to the formation of a tight-knit social group that continues to grow their interest, forge deeper friendships, and enhance their strategic thinking through engaging games.

With our upcoming move to our new east office, we are excited about the potential for our board game collection and Social Fridays to host and explore even more activities. Stay tuned for more adventures as the collection grows, friendships deepen, and the fun continues to unfold in the heart of Gosnells!
